Lovers of the sea and nature will feel perfectly at home in Tuscany. Along the coast of Monte Argentario in the south of the region, there are many beaches and coves that will make you forget all your stresses and worries.

Follow winding paths and gravel roads to get to bays, Roman ruins, magnificent cliffs and secluded beaches where you can hide out in the holiday season. Those who like their comfort will also find all the necessary seaside amenities.

Description: Found just past Porto Ercole this cove has lots vast stretches of white sand and few tourists.

Chiarone

Location: Chiarone

Description: This beach is reached by leaving the Argentario promentory and going towards Capalbio Scalo. It has exquisite dark sand that is almost black and crystal clear sea. The beach is characterised by a backdrop of wild scrubland and two big dunes.

Description: A long stretch of exquisite beach of almost 7km that reaches the Orbetello lagoon with a beautiful pine forest to provide the backdrop. Easily reached from Porto Ercole.

Fonteblanda

Description: This wide beach of 15 to 20 metres is accessible from campsites that you will found south of Talamone. This sandy shore joins the mouth of Osa and Albegna rivers and has a pine forest along its fringes.

Il Purgatorio

Description: This beach, dominated by the Ciana Tower, can be reached 4km on from the "Cannelle Tower". The route is quite tricky and its most beautiful beaches, like "La Ciana", "Cala Piazzoni" and "Le Filicaie", can only be reached from the sea.

La Piletta

Description: The Piletta beach is found just before Porto Ercole between the Stella Fortress and the Rocca Spagnolo and is easily accessed from the provincial road. It is characterised by little stretches of sand, one of which is know as the "Nuns' beach".

Type: Sandy beach
Description: A 10km-long beach, starting near Saline and ending near S. Liberata, connecting the Monte Argentario promentory to Maremma. The beach is exclusively sandy and is ideal for families with small children. There are parking spots all along the beach.
