Dog-friendly beaches in Tuscany

Livorno offers 2 dog-friendly beaches, the Felciaio Beach in Ardenza and the Cabianca Beach on Viale Antignano, right after the steps leading to the sea.  
You will find free stretches of coastline, not equipped with umbrella or lifeguard services, while fresh running water is available only in the Felciaio area. Therefore, it is advisable to be prepared, bringing along everything you need for your pet's comfort and well-being. 

In San Vincenzo, the sea is increasingly accessible to those traveling with their dogs. Here you will find beaches and beach establishments that welcome animals, with dedicated spaces and services designed to make your day a relaxing one. 
Means of access and services available may vary, so it is advisable to check the specific conditions of each area in advance. 

Also in Cecina, the coastline offers numerous areas that welcome dogs, distributed between the northern and southern areas, where it is possible to access the beach in compliance with the prescribed regulations. 

On Elba Island, in the Mola resort of Porto Azzurro, there is the Dog Beach Mola, one of the main landmarks for those traveling with their pooch. This beach stretches for more than 1640 feet or 500 meters, characterized by light-colored gravel and sandy seabeds. Deck chairs and sunloungers, umbrellas and free parking are all available. This is a large and generally uncrowded area, ideal for spending a peaceful day at the beach with your pet.

The island is a particularly pet friendly destination. In addition to dedicated areas, there are several bathing establishments and stretches of coastline where dogs are allowed.

In the heart of the Maremma, along the Feniglia Beach in Orbetello, there are well-equipped stretches that welcome dogs, within a fascinating natural setting. Included in the Duna Feniglia Natural Reserve, this beach is distinguished by its fine, light-colored sand, clear sea and the striking pine forest behind it, which provides ample shade. The area is equipped with services designed for those traveling with their pets, including umbrella and sunbed rentals, fresh running water and shaded areas. In some stretches, dogs are even allowed to enter the water, subject to the prescribed regulations and under the responsibility of their owners.

More generally, the Maremma area—both in its northern and southern extent—is one of Tuscany’s most attentive areas to pet-friendly tourism. To wit, along the coast are numerous bathing establishments and stretches of beach where pets are allowed, making this area an ideal destination for a beach vacation together with your pooch. 

For those spending their vacations in Versilia, the Marina di Torre del Lago offers an extensive free beach where you can enter with your dog and spend the day at the beach, with spaces even suitable for animals to swim in respect of current regulations.

There are several bathing establishments along the Versilia coast that welcome pets, in locations such as Forte dei Marmi, Lido di Camaiore, Marina di Pietrasanta and Viareggio. This also makes Versilia a suitable destination for those who want to plan a beach vacation with their pet. 

In the Marina di Carrara area, there is what the Italians call a Bau Beach, a bit of coastline designed to accommodate those traveling with their dogs. The area, overlooking a stretch of sea suitable for taking a swim, includes both a portion of free-access beach and spaces that can be equipped with dedicated facilities. Spacious and accessible, this is the perfect opportunity to spend time at the beach with your pet in an open and practical setting.
