The lake of Isola Santa is more secluded and picturesque, perfect for independent kayaking and canoeing in an intimate and peaceful alpine setting. Located a short distance from the town of Cavriglia, this reservoir was built in the 1950s, connecting to the Santa Barbara power plant that has now been redeveloped as a nature and recreation area. The lake is particularly popular among sport fishing and sailing enthusiasts, thanks in part to the presence of an active sailing club in the area. You can go canoeing and enjoy various water activities or simply relax along the shores, surrounded by a peaceful and uncrowded setting. The trails around the lake are perfect for easy hikes and birdwatching, in a setting enriched by the historical legacy of the nearby mining park and museum dedicated to lignite.

From large, well-equipped reservoirs to nature reserves and the alpine lakes of Garfagnana, Tuscany offers a diverse array of bodies of water where you can enjoy sports, fishing and relaxation in close contact with nature.

Note: Recreational fishing in the lakes of Tuscany is regulated and may require specific permits or local authorizations. We recommend always checking the current regulations and access procedures with the agencies managing each area before engaging in the activity.
