San Gusmè, a picturesque fortified village surrounded by a long, circular medieval wall, still boasts many of the original architectural features that helped to ensure its defence against foreign attack in the middle ages. Inside this fortified medieval hamlet is the charming church of Saints Cosma and Damiano.
In close proximity to San Gusmè is the town of Cetamura, or rather the medieval “walled city”, which was built on top of ancient Etruscan settlement. At the nearby Landscape Museum, visitors explore the environmental, social, cultural and rural changes that have taken place in the area over the years. There is also a section dedicated to local archeological digs and finds.
It’s possible to do a wine tasting stop at the Le Pici Farm.
