Five Sails ranking: the most beautiful sea in Tuscany

Clear and clean waters, with respect for the environment

Where is the most beautiful sea, with crystal clear waters and sustainable land management? The answer is a highly anticipated one this summer. Let's discover the seaside resorts in Tuscany that have been awarded the Vele of Legambiente and the Italian Touring Club.

Topping the ranking of the most beautiful and cleanest waters in Italy is the Maremma, in particular Castiglione della Pescaia (plastic free city), Scarlino, Marina di Grosseto and Follonica.

In Tuscany, the 5 Vele also fly on the island of Capraia, and along the Grosseto "silver coast" of Capalbio, Orbetello, Magliano in Toscana, Monte Argentario and Isola del Giglio.

Following in the ranking are the 3 sails of Elba Island: Portoferraio, Campo nell'Elba, Capoliveri, Porto Azzurro, Marciana, Marciana Marina, and Rio (Li).

These locations are joined by the 2 sails of:
Etruscan Coast: Castagneto Carducci, San Vincenzo, Bibbona, Cecina;
Pisan coast: Marina di Pisa, Tirrenia;
Versilia: Forte dei Marmi, Viareggio, Pietrasanta, Camaiore.

For many years, "The Most Beautiful Sea", the Blue Guide by Legambiente and the Italian Touring Club, has been inspiring vacations for those who choose their destinations based on environmental quality. The guide gives an account of what coastal local governments are doing concretely to preserve the environment. "The Most Beautiful Sea" offers an account of Italy's most beautiful seaside areas selected from tourist districts evaluated on the basis of data collected by Legambiente on environmental characteristics and hospitality quality.
