The most beautiful beaches reachable from Grosseto

Must-see destinations within a few miles of the city

Grosseto, the cultural heart of the Maremma area, rises immersed in a landscape that weaves nature and history just a few miles from the sea
Of medieval origin, the town was ruled by Siena from 1336 until 1559, when it came under Medici rule following the Battle of Montalcino.
Only in the 20ᵗʰ century, thanks to major land reclamation works, did the area take on its present appearance.
Easily reached by car (thanks to the proximity of the Aurelia highway) or by train, Grosseto is an ideal base for exploring Tuscany’s southern coast, perfect for those seeking tranquility and understated charm.

Le Marze beach

Located north of the Marina di Grosseto, along the road leading to Castiglione della Pescaia, Le Marze beach is a peaceful haven nestled in the unspoiled nature of the Tombolo pine forest. The soft dunes covered with vegetation that blooms in spring and the crystal-clear sea often cooled by a gentle breeze create an ideal environment for families, walkers and sports enthusiasts. Its wildness and low visitor turnout make this a perfect place for those seeking tranquility.
The beach is about 10 miles or 16 kilometers from the center of Grosseto, with a stretch dedicated to a “Bau Beach”, the name in Italian for a dog beach.

For those arriving from Grosseto, La Marze beach can be reached by bus by getting off at the bus stop across the road from the entrance to Camping Le Marze. By car, you can use the parking lots in the pine forest located in front of the various entrances. There are several: one at the Oasi di Maremma rest area, one located in Canova and also open to campers, with another located about 500 feet or 150 meters ahead of the entrance to the Camping Le Marze.

The beach is characterized by soft sand dunes shaped by the wind and embellished with Mediterranean vegetation, ranging from juniper bushes to plants typical of coastal areas. This perfectly preserved ecosystem serves as a habitat for numerous bird species, which can be observed along the nature trails of the oasis.
The sea, crystal clear and often caressed by a gentle breeze, is perfect for swimming or simply relaxing in touch with nature. The oasis promotes sustainable tourism, encouraging conscious enjoyment of the area.

For those arriving by car, the nearest parking lot is that of Canova. The San Felice Oasis beach does not have a bus stop nearby.
