Where to ski with children: mountain vacations for the whole family

Tips for enjoying a skiing holiday safely and without age restrictions

Winter in the mountains is truly wonderful: to fight the cold and have fun at the same time, the solution is to go to the peaks and descend them on skis or a snowboard! After eventful days, there is nothing better than warming up in a lodge, in front of the fire, perhaps with a nice hot dish. The mountain resorts in Tuscany are great lodges for winter sports enthusiasts, even budding ones! In fact, even those traveling with children can count on a range of “kids friendly” ski resorts and services. Just think of ski camps, specialized instructors for the little ones, baby parks… Families, in other words, are welcome!

Between mountain, sky and sea, the ski area of Zum Zeri, in Lunigiana, offers several services - including sports equipment rental - designed for children and young people as well: 8 kilometers of easy and medium slopes, a ski camp, a baby playground, a 750-meter snow park and a 12-kilometer ring for cross-country skiing.
The incredible panorama is the jewel in the crown of this ski resort; in fact, on the clearest days the view reaches as far as the Ligurian Sea.

In Garfagnana, too, in the Apuan Alps, there is no shortage of offerings: the Casone di Profecchia ski area - in Castiglione in Garfagnana - is ideal for those who want to learn to ski or are still inexperienced.
In fact, the artificial snow makes it possible to ski even when there is little precipitation.
There are also routes for Nordic skiing that, crossing the forested area, allow you to admire the wonderful nature of these mountains.

The Abetone ski area, in the heart of the Pistoia Mountains, is a true paradise for those who love skiing and winter sports.
Thanks to the various sports on offer, the quality of the slopes and the natural setting in which it is located, it is one of the most renowned ski areas in Italy and the largest present in Tuscany.
Abetone offers 50 kilometers of slopes, 17 ski lifts and routes suitable just for everyone, from beginners, thanks to the renowned ski school, to the most experienced.

The Monte Amiata ski area is located in Europe’s largest beech forest and offers 10 kilometers of trails for Alpine skiing - with 8 ski lifts - and more than 10 kilometers of trails for Nordic skiing. There are also cross-country trails and snowshoeing trails, both day and night.
Also functional is the Macinaie Snow Park for snowboarders and a ski school for beginners and children.
