Museum of Wine and Grapes in Roccastrada
A sensory voyage through the fragrances of Maremma's grapes
Roccastrada's Wine and Grapes Museum is located in the via dell'Orologio, in the heart of the village's historic centre. Specifically, it makes use of rooms dug out of the rock, which historically were used as wine cellars, in order to conserve the flavour and atmosphere of the past.
The museum was created with the aim of documenting the culture and traditions of one of the industries and products that best represents the identity of the Maremma area - namely, wine - and offers explanatory text, guided tours and tasting sessions.

The display is divided into three sections. Panels in the entrance illustrate the local peasant life, while in the second room you find local wines including 'Monteregio di Massa Marittima,' recognised as a denominazione di origine controllata, or DOC, product. The third part is a tunnel carved into the rock in which the old tools of the trade are displayed, particularly the instruments used for the tending the vines and for wine making.
