Marrying in Pistoia: authentic charm among history, nature and romance

From the historic city to the green hills, Pistoia and surrounds offer intimate locations for unforgettable weddings

A medieval city surrounded by green hills, where Italian ‘savoir vivre’ meets Tuscan authenticity. Choosing to get married in Pistoia means seeking an authentic experience amid historical and natural beauty. An ideal place for intimate and romantic weddings, for those seeking a taste of the Tuscan way of living, away from the more touristy and populated places.

If you prefer to celebrate with a civil ceremony in the historic heart of the city, the Palazzo Comunale in Piazza del Duomo, one of the symbols of Pistoia since the 13ᵗʰ century, is a location rich in charm and history. Another evocative choice is the Villa Puccini in Scornio, also known as Villone Puccini, a historic mansion just outside the center surrounded by a lush park.

Combining the civil ceremony with festivities is a beloved tradition for spouses-to-be. In Pistoia, there are two municipal houses offering this possibility. Toscana Fair is the heart of the historic nursery company Mati 1909. The OrtoFair is a space dedicated to horticulture, hosting outdoor events, while the three greenhouses allow people to connect with nature while enjoying all the comforts of an indoor, air-conditioned environment.

The Grand Hotel Villa Cappugi has an expansive garden with swimming pool and, in addition to the magnificent location, offers numerous services to accompany couples in the organization of their most important day: from the ceremony, catering and set-up to the decorations.

A short distance from Pistoia, in Quarrata along the slopes of the Montalbano mountain range, amidst expanses of vineyards and olive groves, lies Villa La Magia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site listed among the Medici Villas and Gardens in Tuscany. The civil ceremony and reception can be held in this beautiful setting, choosing from three different locations: the Limonaia (Lemon Tree House), Tinaia (Wine Room) or the Scuderie (Stables). Civil ceremonies alone can even be held in Quarrata in the Sala Consiliare (Council Chamber) of the Palazzo Comunale (Town Hall).

The countryside around the medieval village of Serravalle Pistoiese also offers picturesque options for organizing your big day.

Villa Zelma is framed by elegant and stately environments, a swimming pool and a large terrace from which to enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding hills.

The Azienda Agricola Stirpe is a farm immersed in the peace of nature, while the Agriturismo Villa Bracali offers classy and versatile indoor spaces ideal for all seasons, along with beautiful outdoor areas for dining under the stars.

Another option for spouses-to-be for their civil ceremony are the Palazzo Comunale, the Rocca di Castruccio and the Oratorio della Vergine Assunta in the village of Serravalle Pistoiese, or even the Sala Consiliare in Casalguidi.
