Walks immersed in greenery

The hills around Montalbano that are covered by vineyards and olive groves, are the perfect backdrops for long walks, with many paths of various lengths and altitudes making them suitable for every kind of walker. Centuries-old paths will lead you to unexpected places such as San Baronto (Lamporecchio), travelling along an old path that was once used by wayfarers on their way to prayer and where the Oratory of the Madonna delle Grazie can be found.

Other ideas include the route from the hamlet of Massa to the Sanctuary at Croci which can be undertaken on foot, by bike or on horseback. The route goes through a wood and then crosses over the Volata stream until it reaches the ancient Via Crucis that leads straight to the Sanctuary. Alternatively, walk around Colle di Monsummano, a circular route that departs from the Grotta Giusti spa and goes along the Geological Path.
