E-bike in the Val d'Orcia: from Pienza to Bagno Vignoni
A 26-kilometer scenic loop along dirt roads and cypress trees, reaching the medieval thermal baths of Bagno Vignoni.
This loop e-bike tour of about 26 km and 350 m of elevation gain, with a medium-easy level, starts from Pienza and crosses some of the most famous landscapes of the Val d’Orcia.
The route alternates about 12 km of secondary roads, 6 km of road, 6 km of main road and 2 km of trails. The itinerary therefore includes, in the indicated sections, paved roads open to vehicle traffic: it is important to have good confidence on the bike and feel comfortable riding on roads shared with cars and other vehicles for the sections mentioned.
Along the way, you will ride on secondary roads and panoramic stretches of the Val d’Orcia, passing one of the most famous spots linked to the film Gladiator. The ride continues among isolated farmhouses, open fields and perfect views for a photo stop.
The main stop is Bagno Vignoni, a truly unique thermal village, famous for the large water basin that occupies the centre of the square. Here you will have time for a break, a walk through the village and to admire the historic atmosphere of its thermal waters. Any entrance to spas or thermal facilities is not included, unless otherwise indicated in the booked option.
On the way back to Pienza, the tour passes near the Chapel of Vitaleta, one of the most recognisable symbols of the Val d’Orcia. The route alternates paved roads, secondary roads, gravel roads and short easy off-road sections; some stretches are open to traffic and should be approached with normal attention.
This experience is ideal for anyone who wants to combine landscapes, villages, photography and an accessible ride in the heart of Tuscany.
