An environmental guide takes you by 4x4 Jeep into the heart of the Apuan Alps—featuring marble, lardo di Colonnata, and wines from the hills of Luni
Your local expert driver and certified environmental guide pick you up directly at your address, ready to take you on a journey through history, nature and taste.
The adventure begins at the Fantiscritti Marble Quarries. On the way you cross the Vara Bridges of the old Marble Railway. A 4x4 jeep takes you up the mountain to the highest points, where you admire the pristine White Statuary Marble sparkling in the sun and panoramic views of the Alps. From here you will understand why this marble has inspired artists for centuries.
Then you enter the quarry with a local expert guide, exploring the tunnels where marble is cut and learning traditional and modern cutting techniques, including the link to Michelangelo and his David. The visit includes the Marble Museum.
The tour continues to the village of Colonnata, famous worldwide for Lardo di Colonnata: stroll its narrow streets, enjoy a tasting and take in the views of the Apuan mountains.
In the afternoon, stop in Luni at Cantine Lunae for a guided tasting of five local wines such as Vermentino, Rossese and Rosé, paired with traditional products. Then a comfortable ride back to your accommodation.

Fantiscritti Marble Quarries, Carrara (approx. 2 hours): 4x4 jeep to the upper White Statuary Marble quarries, visit inside the quarry with a local guide and Marble Museum.
Colonnata (approx. 1 hour): walk through the village and Lardo di Colonnata IGP tasting.
Luni, Cantine Lunae (approx. 1 hour): guided tasting of local wines (Vermentino, Rossese, Rosé).
Return by minivan to your accommodation.
