Relax as you travel through the Tuscan countryside, among vineyards, olive groves and sunflower fields, to Volterra, a refined hilltop town and one of the Twelve Etruscan Cities, with one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Tuscany.
Self-guided visit of Volterra: the Roman Theatre, the octagonal Baptistery, the Duomo, Palazzo dei Priori and the alabaster workshops, where master craftsmen keep a centuries-old tradition alive.
Lunch and tasting at Podere La Marronaia - Le Colonne, a family-owned biodynamic and organic estate in the hills of San Gimignano: homemade Tuscan lunch (bruschetta, fresh pasta or lasagna, cured meats, pecorino, desserts and seasonal specialties) with 5 estate wines (Chianti, Chianti Riserva, Sangiovese, Vernaccia di San Gimignano), 5 extra virgin olive oils, 3 aged balsamic vinegars, truffle oil and gourmet condiments.
After lunch, a scenic drive along the Chianti Wine Road to San Gimignano: self-guided visit of the medieval town of towers, the legend of the Black Rooster, saffron, Vernaccia and award-winning gelato at Gelateria Dondoli.
Return to your accommodation around 5:00 PM.
