The Mercato Coperto di Qualità (Under-cover Market of Quality or MeQ) in Follonica is a large showcase of products typical of Northern Maremma.
Located in Piazza XXIV Maggio, gastronomic vendors peddle fresh food and beverages of the highest quality—meat and seafood, bread and fresh pasta, along with many kinds of panini and dishes to take away or eat inside the market.
The MeQ benefits from locally grown fruits and vegetables, seafood raised locally or caught in the sea of the Gulf, flours made from Tuscan grains, wines produced in local vineyards and km0 animal farms. It is composed of 14 businesses owned by different proprietors but all united by the constant search for quality in local food and wine products.
The facility is completely plastic free and pet friendly. No plastic bottles are used and there are numerous places where your pets can quench their thirst too.
In addition, you can also find an area dedicated to show cooking, comprised of a demonstration bench and 6 smaller areas equipped with sink and induction hot plates for educational activities.
With all these activities and initiatives, the MeQ wants to tell the story of the territory through food and wine, bringing the producer closer to the consumer.
