The Punta Ala Golf Club is a technically demanding golf course, but one of enormous beauty and spectacle. Since 1964, it has been synonymous with the history of Italian golf.
The 18-hole course is, without any doubt, one of the most breathtaking not only in Italy but right across the globe. It covers 6,200 metres, with a view that takes in the sea below. The fairways are entirely surrounded by gorgeous Mediterranean scrub, which are always ready to punish misplaced shots.
Each hole presents a range of different challenges, which add up to satisfy the demands of even the most advanced golfer.
Pine trees, both maritime and domestic, cork trees, oak trees, centuries-old hollyoaks and strawberry trees provide a rich green frame to these extraordinary views, with the Tyrrhenian in the background and Elba and the rest of the Tuscan Archipelago in the foreground. Enjoying an aperitivo in the clubhouse's new terrace bar "Il Cielo", while the sun sets, is an experience to savour.
Restyling has made the clubhouse more elegant, modern and welcoming: all is light and glass. You can sip delicious cocktails at the sophisticated lounge bar, while the restaurant lays on dishes typical of the Maremma's traditional cuisine.
The club's sporting calendar involves an intense programme of competitions, many of them on the international stage. The competition is at its thickest in summer, but the club is open all year round. Players can make use of a well-stocked Pro Shop, a putting green, electric golf buggies and a large practice green, where golf clinics are held. Nor does Punta Ala deal only with gold: polo, riding and sailing are also practised here, right up to international level.
