A network of MTB trails for any physique and discipline

Located in the far north of Tuscany, between the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and the Apuan Alps, the Lunigiana Bike Area has plenty of trails that wind through the medieval architecture of villages, forests, streams and mountains, in a combination of fun and adventure.

We climb up to 1,000 meters above sea level to observe views with no populated areas and enjoy the silence. The operators on the ground - that has always been associated with mountain bikes - work diligently to clean the trails and maintain the permanent signage. Oaks, chestnut trees, ash trees, daffodils and even pines make up the lush vegetation along the trails. A guiding experience with dozens of proposals and variations.

The trails

The trail network is constantly evolving, supported by local MTB associations, public institutions and commercial operators. There are nearly 30 trails available on the official website where you can find the map, downloadable GPX tracks, all levels of difficulty and technical details.

The trails are, then, all marked on the ground with unique vertical signs and five different starting points, indicated by notice boards, in Pontremoli, Filattiera, Villafranca in Lunigiana, Bagnone and Mulazzo.

Trails for all kinds of physique and tastes, from those suitable for families and those who want to experience off-road riding for the first time, to true cross-country granfondo trails to enduro trails on natural terrain that alternate flowing stretches with more technical sections up to the Lunigiana Trail, a 250-kilometer bikepacking itinerary along the entire Valley.

Check out all the trails here.

Services

Commercial operators in the sector, networked with each other, offer  a large number of services such as guided tours of all levels, from tourist to sports tours, MTB and EMTB rentals, sales and service stores, and numerous accommodations near the departure points of the trails.

The network of routes and trails is open and usable year-round.
