WHAT TO EXPECT

"A Trip to the Moon" is a show dedicated to the moon, combining two important art forms: music and cinema. The show begins with a screening and live soundtrack of the short film "Le Voyage dans la Lune" (1902) by G. Méliès, a celebrated silent film masterpiece. The film, shown in color, is accompanied by the Billi Brass Quintet, performing a previously unreleased score composed exclusively for the group by David Short (former principal trumpet of the RAI Orchestra of Rome). The screening is followed by a brief historical and scientific presentation by Professor Alessandro Marchini, director of the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Siena.

The evening concludes with a dreamlike musical journey, performed by the Billi Brass Quintet and accompanied by the projection of images of the moon and the observation of the night sky with the Siena Observatory. The moon takes center stage, with a repertoire ranging from classical music and jazz to rock, pop, and film soundtracks.
