Music, art and wine beneath the stars

On July 30, the Chianti Sculpture Park will host an evening dedicated to the Moon, featuring live music, cinema, stargazing and tastings.

The program begins at 6 PM, with an opportunity to explore the park on your own and view its art installations. The Chianti Sculpture Park 2 app is available as an audio guide to accompany your visit.

Starting at 7 PM, there will be a wine tasting featuring Losi Querciavalle wines, accompanied by an apericena (light buffet dinner) prepared by La Taverna della Berardenga.

At 9 PM, A Trip to the Moon takes the stage, with a performance by the Billi Brass Quintet combining music and cinema. The evening continues with a guided stargazing session led by Alessandro Marchini, Director of the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Siena, along with the observatory staff.

The experience kicks off with a screening of the color version of the silent short movie “Le Voyage dans la Lune”, directed by Georges Méliès in 1902. The images are accompanied live by the Billi Brass Quintet, performing an original soundtrack composed for the group by David Short, former principal trumpet of the RAI Orchestra in Rome.

A a historical and scientific presentation by Alessandro Marchini follows. The evening ends with a musical journey dedicated to the Moon, featuring pieces ranging from classical music to jazz, rock, pop and movie soundtracks. During the performance, live images of the Moon's surface captured by the Astronomical Observatory of Siena are projected on screen.
