From September 11 to January 10, the Carrara Museum of Art - MudaC is hosting The Redemption of Nature, a solo exhibition by Stefano Cerio, curated by Angela Madesani.
The project stems from research conducted by the artist in the Mediterranean areas affected by major wildfires in recent years.
Working across Pantelleria, the Zingaro Nature Reserve and Mount Cofano in Sicily, as well as the Montiferru area in Sardinia, Cerio has followed the traces left by the fires over time, focusing on nature’s ability to regenerate and gradually reclaim its spaces.
Through the phenomenon of ecological succession, his work documents the transformations of the landscape and the gradual return of vegetation to the areas affected by the wildfires.
The exhibition features twelve large-format photographs and a video artwork.
