On display in Prato: the shoe that changed the world
From athletics tracks to the NBA courts, from the streets to the runways: in just over a century, the sneaker has evolved from a sports shoe to a generational icon, a cult object and a testing ground for innovation.
From November 6 to May 2, 2027, the Prato Textile Museum Foundation and Beside Arts & Publishing present the first exhibition in Italy that tells the story of the sneaker through history, culture, society and design. A journey through fashion, sport, music, technology, economics and sustainability, revealing how a simple shoe has become a universal language.
The seven sections of the exhibition form a collective narrative, created in collaboration with scholars, collectors and professionals, featuring iconic designs, archival materials and items on loan from public
