From September 26 to March 7, 2027, the Museo Novecento in Florence is hosting an exhibition dedicated to Victor Man, set up in the ground-floor rooms of the Ex Leopoldine in Piazza Santa Maria Novella.
Considered one of the most influential contemporary painters in Europe and a leading figure of the Cluj School, Victor Man is known for works featured in the collections of major international museums.
The exhibition collates some 25 paintings that explore elements such as portraiture, self-portraiture, motherhood, the female figure and still life.
What dominates the works is a color palette characterized by deep blues and blacks, in keeping with the tradition of chiaroscuro.
The images give rise to visual puzzles open to various interpretations in exploring themes such as existential loneliness and the ambiguity of human identity.
The exhibition even offers an opportunity to explore the relationship between the great traditions of ancient painting and contemporary sensibilities.
