Tour of San Carlo, Monte Romitorio and Coronato
An evocative hiking loop in the Etruscan Coast village near San Vincenzo
San Carlo is a small hillside village at the foot of Mount Calvi, immersed in greenery and surrounded by hills, located just 5 kilometres from the well-known seaside resort of San Vincenzo.
We will move right from the archeo-mining history of San Carlo to enter the magnificent forests of Mediterranean scrub, ilex and cork trees typical of the area, climbing the rugged limestone heights of Mount Romitorio, from which we will have an incomparable view of the Etruscan Coast and the Tuscan Archipelago.
A picnic lunch in the sunshine of this natural balcony and we will continue through incredible forests where we will appreciate a particular ecosystem consisting of "holes," "wells" and abandoned deposits that add to the arcane and mysterious charm of this particular area of the Etruscan Coast.
The highlights we will visit in this proposal:
- San Carlo and the Solvay Village
- The panorama and the remains of Monte Romitorio
- Monte Coronato
- The Valley of the Rozze
The tour will take place on Friday, April 26, departing at 9:30 a.m.
