San Pellegrino in Alpe And is one of the most famous places in the Garfagnana.
The village, located on the Apennine at more than 1500 meters, has a thousand-year history and it is the most inhabited village of the whole chain still today. Headquarter of an important medieval Hospitale, it was central for trading and communications at that time. The legend of the Saint surrounds the imposing medieval structure, while about the "Giro del Diavolo" is narrated that it gave origin to the entire natural Apuan Alps arch.
We will start from the panoramic cross and then we will go up the ancient mule track towards the ridge meadows. Nature is splendid, the pastures will suddenly appear to us, leaving us breathless.
We will climb to the peak to enjoy the immense panorama, before starting the descent towards Burigone Refuge, where it will be possible to have lunch before returning to starting point.
