Monte Sumbra, Tuscany's Half Dome
This mountain in the Apuan Alps is waiting for us with open arms: a crouching giant with its head to the west
On this day hike, we climb through a beautiful beech forest. After a while, the magic happens: we find ourselves on top of an infinite wall, hundreds of meters deep. In front of us we can see the immense profile of the Sumbra and its vertiginous south face.
The climb continues up to the sweet and grassy summit, from where you can admire an incredible panorama that embraces all of northern Tuscany and extends to the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago and the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The hike is suitable for people in good physical shape. The path is well marked and does not present technical problems, with the exception of a short slightly exposed stretch, which is easy to overcome.
