Let yourself be immersed into the history of the city with this complete walking tour of the historical centre, to appreciate not only the art and history behind the many masterpieces of Florence, but also anecdotes and curiosities about this amazing town.

You will discover places, monuments, squares and alleys that have made Florence the cradle of Renaissance but also an incredible chest of hidden treasures. You are going to hear stories about the most important religious and civic monuments of the town, how they are related with the Medici family, and what their purpose was during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, but also about the great Masters that lived and worked here: Dante, Giotto, Brunelleschi, Leonardo and Michelangelo.

You will walk through the most important places of the center, such as the religious centre (Piazza del Duomo), the political centre (Piazza Signoria), Via Calzaiuoli (the promenade of Florence), the golden bridge (Ponte Vecchio), the Oltrarno district with the last Medici's villa (Pitti Palace), and finally you will enjoy a nice aperitif in the most elegant street of Florence, Via Tornabuoni.

Plan

We will start from Piazza S. Lorenzo, to learn more about the square and the basilica, then we will reach Piazza del Duomo (Duomo square), where we will talk about the most important religious buildings: the Cathedral, the Belltower, the Baptistry and the Brunelleschi's dome. We will walk along Via Calzaiuoli, the shopping street of the town, to reach Piazza della Repubblica (Republic square), Orsanmichele church, Piazza Signoria with its Palazzo Vecchio, and then we will walk into the Uffizi portico and over the Old Bridge (Ponte Vecchio), to reach Piazza Pitti. After that we will cross again the river Arno, and we will walk along the most elegant street of Florence, Via Tornabuoni, to reach a historical cafe where you will enjoy a final aperitif.

The tour will last about 2h30, it will be entirely on foot, outdoor, and it will take place also in case of rain. Please make sure you wear comfortable shoes and you have an umbrella in case of rain
