Into the breath of the UNESCO forest, among ancient beeches and primordial silence
An ancient forest road leads into the heart of the Casentino Forests, Monte Falterona and Campigna National Park: the Lama Forest, on the edge of the Sasso Fratino strict nature reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You'll ride beneath cathedral-like canopies of centuries-old beech and silver fir trees, along a trail that follows the route of the old Decauville railway, once used to transport timber through the forest.
It's a journey where the rhythm of your pedalling gradually aligns with the breathing of the woodland, all the way to the Lama meadow, a peaceful clearing where deer and fallow deer can often be spotted grazing.
