E-bike tour of Gaiole in Chianti, among Etruscans and abbeys
Scenic e-bike tour from Gaiole to Radda, through vineyards, woods, archaeological sites and the ancient Badia a Coltibuono.
Once the tour is booked, you can go to our rental point to collect the bikes and start with our virtual navigation, which will guide you step by step.
This loop e-bike tour of about 27 km and 500 m of elevation gain, with a medium level, starts from Gaiole in Chianti and reaches Radda in Chianti, passing through Cetamura and Badia a Coltibuono. The route takes place almost entirely on paved roads and roads open to traffic: about 18 km of main road, 6 km of road and 3 km of secondary roads. It is therefore essential to have good confidence on the bike and with road traffic.
After leaving Gaiole, you will ride through vineyards, olive groves and woods until reaching Radda in Chianti, a medieval village ideal for a break and a walk through the streets of the historic centre. From here, the tour continues towards Cetamura, an important Etruscan-Roman archaeological site surrounded by greenery, before reaching Badia a Coltibuono, an ancient abbey founded in the 11th century and today surrounded by vineyards and historic gardens.
At Coltibuono, it is possible to stop for a visit, a tasting or a break before returning to Gaiole.
The tour combines landscapes, history and wine tradition, but requires constant attention to traffic, especially on the faster sections and main roads. In the case of children, the route is recommended only for young riders who are already very confident on the bike and used to cycling on roads shared with vehicles.
