A day on Giglio Island: coast, villages, and nature on an e-bike
Granite vineyards, wild cliffs and a sea you won't forget: a day on the island the Tuscan Archipelago kept to itself
Experience an unforgettable e-bike excursion to Giglio Island, a pearl of the Tuscan Archipelago that has preserved itself far from the beaten track of mass tourism.
Cycling here means immersing yourself in a landscape where vineyards cling to the rock and dirt roads linger between the blue sky and the sea, surrounded by the rejuvenating scents of Mediterranean scrub and the salty sea air.
Every season is the ideal time to explore this unique territory on a pedal-assisted bicycle, discovering that each stretch of coastline has its own distinctive character.
Our journey begins with a meeting in Porto Santo Stefano, where we'll board a boat to reach the island.
As soon as we disembark, we'll begin our adventure by climbing towards Giglio Castello, a charming medieval hilltop village offering breathtaking views of the entire Tuscan island. We'll then continue to Capel Rosso, in the far south, where a solitary lighthouse watches over rugged cliffs and endless horizons. After a refreshing stop, we'll set sail for the bay of Giglio Campese, famous for its golden sand and crystal-clear waters, the perfect spot for a swim and lunch by the sea.
In the afternoon, the itinerary will reach the northern tip of the island to the Fenaio lighthouse, which dominates a pristine and rarely visited stretch of coast.
We'll end the day in Giglio Porto, the picturesque fishing village with its multicolored houses, strolling through its narrow streets before returning.
Along the way, we'll have the unique opportunity to discover local flavors by visiting a small winery to taste Ansonaco, the island's prized white wine, produced on heroic granite terraces and embodying the flavors of salt and sun.
