The city's vast green lung

Massa Marittima is not just a town of extraordinary artistic and historical value, but it also offers large open spaces filled with greenery and picturesque places from which you can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding area
Prominent among them is the Parco di Poggio, an area outside the traditional tourist itineraries and a long-standing reference point for sports and recreational activities in the local community.

The park is located in the upper part of town - just beyond the ancient medieval walls- and is about a five-minute walk from the historic center.
The extensive, entirely pedestrian area includes a sports center equipped with tennis courts, a stadium, an indoor multipurpose facility and a padel court.
In addition, a weekly market is held every Wednesday along the two main avenues that cross the park.
There are also children's play areas, making the park an ideal place for family walks and relaxing moments in contact with nature.

Following the path that runs around the Parco di Poggio, you will come to a panoramic terrace that overlooks the entire town of Massa Marittima and offers a view that stretches all the way to the coast.
Here, in this spot, you will find the War Memorial, dedicated to the victims of the Niccioleta massacre, which occurred on June 13, 1944 during the Nazi-Fascist occupation.
