Cortona On The Move is the international festival of contemporary photography held every summer in Cortona, with the aim of promoting new visions and original forms of visual communication.
Cortona On The Move has become a true experimentation center for the evolution of photographic language and has become one of the main Italian events in the sector for established photographers, amateurs and enthusiasts.
2021 marks the eleventh edition, taking place from July 15 to October 3. The historic center of the city and the Girifalco Fortress will be brought to life by the events.
We Are Humans is the central theme of Cortona On The Move 2021, an artistic journey in which human beings return to the center of everyday life, with relationships, affection, and the sharing of experiences.
Among the lead characters will be Paolo Pellegrin, a world-famous Italian photographer of the Magnum Photos agency and a Canon Ambassador. He will form part of the festival programme with L’Altro, a photographic project on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on people's relationships. Alongside this, a selection of photographs from the Intesa Sanpaolo Publifoto Archive will be shown, titled Come saremo – L'Italia che ricostruisce.
The American artist Alec Soth will be present with his latest work, I Know How Furiously Your Heart is Beating. It's an attempt to get a glimpse of people's inner life, on display in Italy for the first time.
Among the other internationally renowned artists will be:
Alessandra Sanguinetti, with An Everlasting Summer - The Adventures of Guille and Belinda
Andrea Mastrovito, with NYsferatu - Symphony of a Century
Stephanie Gengotti, with Circus Love - The Magical Life of Europe's Family Circuses, winning project of the international Happiness ONTHEMOVE 2019 award
