From Portoferraio to Lacona and back, a path through woods and Napoleon’s hunting grounds

The starting point is from Villa dei Mulini, in the center of Portoferraio, and from there the trail crosses the town and its Napoleonic sites until it reaches the summer residence of San Martino.

Following path 221, adjacent to the villa, you cross a thick forest of Mediterranean scrub until you reach the top of the hill. Here begins the descent to the built-up area of Lacona.

When you arrive at sea level, continue to the peninsula of capo Stella, once the Emperor's hunting ground, now an ideal place for cycling suspended between the blue of the gulf of Stella and the gulf of Lacona.

Returning from the Capo Stella loop, follow the provincial road eastward, overlooking the sea of Capo ai Pini, Acquarilli and Norsi, then turn left toward Campo ai Peri.

Reaching the junction of Casa Marchetti, turning right you flank the relief of Mount Fabbrello until you discover the agricultural plain of Schiopparello.

The return to Portoferraio follows provincial road 26, crossing the town again as far as Calata Mazzini and then ends on the Molo Elba opposite the Porta a Mare of the Medici Cosmopoli.
