September in Asciano is back, one of the most eagerly awaited times of the year for our community and an event that brings together residents, associations and visitors every year.

The month of September has already got off to a great start, with a strong turnout for the first events on the programme, beginning with the Nocino Festival, which attracted many people and once again highlighted the value of our traditions and our community’s ability to come together and enjoy time together.

The programme continues throughout the month with many events and the participation of numerous local organisations and groups, offering a calendar that combines tradition, culture, music and community spirit.

Following the Nocino Festival, the programme continues on Saturday, 12 September with “La Notte delle Contrade – Dalle Stalle alle Stelle” (“The Night of the Contrade – From the Stables to the Stars”), an evening dedicated to tradition and community spirit, featuring a folkloric parade, traditional games and competitions at the G. Marconi Stadium, dinner and, afterwards, an evening of music with a DJ set.

September will also be an opportunity to enjoy culture and music, with the 33rd edition of the National Band Festival “Azzurra Lorenzoni”, which will feature the “Young” Festival on Sunday 20 September and the “Classic” Festival on Sunday 27 September.

On Sunday, 13 September, “Benvenuti Ascianesi!” (“Welcome, Asciano Residents!”) will return, giving local residents the opportunity to visit Asciano’s museums free of charge.

Another important event in the community’s religious tradition will also take place: from 17 to 20 September, the Basilica of Sant’Agata will host the celebrations for the Feast of the Most Holy Crucifix.

Throughout the month, visitors will also be able to see the photography exhibition “Tra cielo e argilla. Le Crete Senesi” (“Between Sky and Clay. The Crete Senesi”) by Stefano Caporali at the Palazzo Corboli Museum, on display until 27 September, as well as the exhibition “700 anni di arte per i monaci olivetani. Il Medioevo” (“700 Years of Art for the Olivetan Monks. The Middle Ages”) at the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore.

The amusement rides will also be back at Campo della Fiera from 5 to 21 September, along with the traditional September Fair, taking place on 21 September.
