Artigianato e Palazzo

From Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13, Florence’s Giardino Corsini (Corsini Garden) will host the 32nd edition of Artigianato e Palazzo. This year, it is dedicated to the theme of Reconnecting with Nature, a reflection on the relationship between humans, the environment and matter as the source of creative processes and artisan knowledge.

The event will feature 100 artisans and young designers, selected based on the quality of their work and united by their focus on nature’s transformation processes and contemporary experimentation.

One of the main events is LINFA. The Philosophy of Wonder, a site-specific installation by designer Jonathan Bocca, will cross the Corsini Palace and Garden, creating a dialog between historical heritage and contemporary languages. Meanwhile, Michel Vecchi's Bosco Sonoro (Forest of Sound) will be on display in the Orto delle Monache garden. It is an immersive installation consisting of 25 mushroom-shaped sculptures made from fallen trees.
Among the special exhibitions, ARTEX presents Galleria dell'Artigianato (Craft Gallery). Tra Natura e Artificio (Between Nature and Artifice), curated by Jean Blanchaert and designed by Studio La Vanguardia, and the project La Grande Bellezza - The Dream Factory by Starhotels pays tribute to ceramic artist Antonietta Mazzotti Emaldi.

The CR Florence Foundation will be presenting RECREOS a Palazzo, an event dedicated to the winners of the revitalization of artisan crafts project on Via Palazzuolo, and will present the Perseo Award. 

A section will also be dedicated to the younger generation with Next Generation, dedicated to young talents in contemporary craftsmanship, while L'artigianato che unisce, l'artigianato che include (Craftsmanship that unites, Craftsmanship that includes) will involve cooperatives and workshops that use crafts as a tool for training and integration. 

The program also includes the Ricette di Famiglia (Family Recipes) meetings, dedicated this year to Albina Lucarelli Becevello, known as Sister Intingola and Gabriele D’Annunzio’s cook; a live construction of the bamboo pavilion Thòlos by CanyaLab; the Malles Mediterranean Design exhibition featuring ceramics created by the artisan women of Sejnane, in Tunisia; talks, prizes, craft demonstrations, workshops for adults and children and guided tours of the Giardino Corsini.

Lastly, the Abbraccia la Loggia del Buontalenti (Embrace the Buontalenti Loggia) fundraising campaign continues, with proceeds going to the restoration of the Palace’s historic 17th-century Loggia.

Breakfast, brunch and aperitifs will also be served in the Garden every day.
