In Bibbona, one of the masters of Magical Realism

Starting Thursday, July 9, the Palazzo del Vecchio Municipio in Bibbona is hosting the exhibition Memo Vagaggini: Painting Between Reality and Dreams, open to the public through October 25 with free admission.

The exhibition features approximately 30 works, some of which have never been shown before, along with photographs, objects and publications that trace the artistic and personal journey of Nicodemo Vagaggini—known as Memo—who was born in Santa Fiora in 1892 and died in Florence in 1955.

A painter and photographer, Vagaggini lived and worked for many years in Florence, his home as of 1924, while maintaining a strong connection to Santa Fiora, Monte Amiata and the Maremma—areas that often featured prominently in his landscapes. His research is part of the Magical Realism movement that developed in Italy during the 1920s and 1930s.

In July and August, the exhibition will be open daily from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
