Petriolo baths, warm water and trekking
Exclusive experience discovering the wild Farma of Petriolo
A rich blend of art and history among charming villages, set in a natural landscape shaped by remarkable geological features and ancient thermal springs, already known in Roman times and frequented by ecclesiastical and civil authorities such as popes and the Medici family.
We will admire the distinctive historic fortifications of the Petriolo complex before venturing into the wild Farma Nature Reserve, crossing the river twice to reach the fascinating site of the Orso and the lesser-known Trampolino and Voltacce, characterized by spectacular gorges with rocks dating back to the Carboniferous period.
We will visit the picturesque villages of Solaia and Lesa, immersing ourselves in unique atmospheres far from mass tourism, where time seems to stand still. We will then descend through enchanting cork oak forests towards the famous thermal pools: the Pozzo dell’Inferno, the Conchiglia, the Fagiolo, and the quieter Vascone, where thermal water flows from underground, offering the chance for a scenic riverside bath.
Did you know? the thermal waters of the Farma, which emerge at a temperature of 43°C, are rich in sulfates, bicarbonates, chlorides and hydrogen sulfide, and are classified as hyperthermal sulfur waters.
