Casentino vineyards by E-bike: pedal, taste, discover
Cycle through the vineyards of the Casentino valley, with a winery tasting and a traditional lunch included
Casentino is not just castles, ancient parish churches and unspoiled nature: it is also wine and the good life. A land that holds a wine and food heritage largely unknown to most, made of small family-run wineries, vines cultivated patiently on gentle, quiet hills, and a traditional method sparkling wine still produced here with the same care and artisan passion as ever.
With this experience we take you on a journey to discover the wineries and the traditional method sparkling wine produced in Casentino, cycling at a slow pace through neat rows of vines, lush green countryside that changes colour with every season, and storybook villages suspended in time, where cobbled streets tell centuries-old stories and locals welcome visitors with the warmth typical of these valleys.
The route winds its way to the wineries, keepers of knowledge passed down through generations, where wine is still crafted by hand, far from the pace of industry: here every bottle tells the story of the land it comes from, among vine rows tended by hand in places of outstanding natural beauty, on the border between cultivated plains and the first foothills of the Apennines.
A slow journey on two electric wheels, designed for those who want to experience the territory without rushing: between guided tastings, breathtaking landscapes unfolding at every turn, stops at the most striking scenic viewpoints, and the genuine hospitality of Casentino, made of small gestures, authentic products, and people who still live and work their own land with pride.
A two-day experience that combines gentle outdoor activity, quality food and wine, and the discovery of a corner of Tuscany that remains authentic, far from the more well-trodden paths.
The adventure begins on the first day with the Fregnan Wine Tour—a circular route covering approximately 20 kilometers with an elevation gain of 360 meters, which can be completed in about three and a half hours, including a wine tasting.
The journey starts in Poppi, a renowned medieval village overlooked by the imposing Castle of the Counts Guidi. From here, the route winds through expertly cultivated hills and offers glimpses of golf courses, before making a stop in the charming village of San Martino.
Descending along a picturesque cycle path, you will arrive at the Fregnan Winery to discover the secrets behind the production of *metodo classico* (traditional method) sparkling wine.
The return to Poppi will be enhanced by a delightful packed lunch enjoyed along the way, followed by dinner and an overnight stay in the welcoming accommodation reserved for guests.
The second day features the Pergentina Wine Tour—another scenic loop, lasting about three and a half hours, specifically designed to combine relaxation with culinary pleasure.
Leaving Poppi behind, the route follows a gentle ascent through the hills of the Casentino region, traveling along quiet secondary roads that ensure a carefree and relaxing ride.
The path leads to the Pergentina Winery for another tasting stop, celebrating the excellence of local viticulture.
