One of the most beautiful forests in Italy, stretching from the sea to the inland

The Tomboli di Cecina Nature Reserve is found in Marina di Cecina and includes the Tomboli, long stretches of dunes covered in a dense vegetation that stretch from the beach towards the inland of the charming coast and represent the essential ecosystem created to defend the land from the sea winds.

The reserve, which stretches for 15 kilometres, is one of the most beautiful forests in Italy, full of a bushy and varied vegetation which changes as you go from the sea to the inland. On the beach, lilies and sea poppies bloom, while in the lower scrubland junipers grow and on the high scrubland holly oaks, maritime pines and domestic pines thrive.

The reserve is home so many species of animals: woodland rabbits, foxes, weasels, porcupines, roe deer and badgers. In the sky you can see turtle doves, green woodpeckers, hoopoes and woodpigeons, who reside in this area for long periods of time.
