Historical Archive of the Municipality of Radicondoli

The Historical Archive of the Municipality of Radicondoli preserves centuries of local history through documents that chronicle community life, from administrative matters to the most curious and surprising events. Statutes, bylaws, board resolutions, accounting records and correspondence with government agencies and private individuals make it possible to reconstruct what actually happened in everyday life.

For example, the statutes reveal social, behavioral and economic rules, whereas the inventories list real and personal property. The income and expense records then show revenues and purchases, providing insight into the daily life of the community. Through the family registers, we can learn about household composition and how it changed over time, as well as the given and last names and occupations of the residents—farmers, hatmakers, weavers, millers and “landowners.”
