A fascinating tour through the artefacts from the area

The Archaeological Museum in Portoferraio is located inside the ancient salt warehouse of the Linguella and exhibits archaeological artefacts found in the Tuscan Archipelago, organised in historical-topographical order. The timeline stretches from the 8th century BCE to the 5th century CE.

The museum explains the strategic role the Archipelago had in ancient maritime trade through artefacts such as vases, weapons and amphorae from the tombs, towns and shipwrecks.

Next to the museum are the ruins of the Roman Villa della Linguella. On the other side of the gulf of Portoferraio, on the road to Porto Azzurro, there are the ruins of the Roman Villa delle Grotte
