Tuscan summer really gets rolling when numerous events dedicated to national and international music start cropping up. Each year, tourists from all over the world indulge in a vacation centered on art, nature, and frequently, top-level concerts in the region.
Each year Lucca Summer Festival is one of these highly anticipated Italian musical events. It usually takes place in Lucca's Piazza Napoleone throughout the month of July.
Since 1998, many bands and famous singers - both national and international - have performed on this stage, from Bob Dylan to James Brown, from Mark Knopfler to Jamiroquai. There have also been names like Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Ennio Morricone and many others. In 2017, the main band performing was the legendary Rolling Stones; in 2018 Roger Waters held a concert on the historic walls of Lucca. The same year featured, among others, the Hollywood Vampires, Gorillaz, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Lenny Kravitz and Queens of the Stone Age.
