Mountain biking to Badia a Passignano

This 28-mile (45 kilometer) looped route, perfect for MTBs, is to be undertaken with due caution owing to the 3678 feet (1121 meters) gain in elevation.
Start in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa on Via Spicciano then continue along the pretty gravel road of Pianacci. Tackling the ups and downs, alternate between dirt and asphalt sections in a quiet setting surrounded by nature.
The climb before the village of Sicelle is the most challenging part, reaching at its highest point 1,637 feet (499 meters), before descending through olive groves and vineyards.
After catching your breath, continue—paying attention to the steep descent on the Maremmana easement that leads to the Pesa River and the bike path of the same name. In the vicinity of the Mulino dell’Abate, climb up to Poggio a Vento. The road is unpaved and completely within the woods until coming to a stretch of asphalt just before the beautiful Abbey of Passignano.
From here, descend to the industrial area and return to Tavarnelle.
