From July 17 to October 17 2010, the exhibit Joan Mirò: Universi Magici (magical words) will be touring some of Maremma's most suggestive towns, and I suggest you do the same! I have to say that I really love Miro's whimsical illustrations and look forward to learning more about how they relate to the texts and what they mean. The exhibit put on by the Musei della Maremma offers a Mirò "itinerary" of sorts, with 189 works in four locations. The artist's book illustrations and graphic works will be on display, some for the first time in Italy.
The locations are: Pinacoteca Civica (Follonica), Museo di Arte e Storia della Maremma (Grosseto), Fortezza Orsini (Sorano), and Raccolta d’Arte di Palazzo Nerucci (Castel del Piano). Each has its own opening hours and entry ticket (4/5 euros); discount for holders of the Maremma museum card "Musei Card". This card is given to you free upon compilation of a survey after your first museum visit in participating museums (just about all of them in Maremma). If they don't offer it, ask for it!
