To visit one of the many fascinating locations of Tuscany – churches, palaces, theatres, squares – you can check the opening times, go to the ticket office, enter and then admire what’s around you. Or enjoy a piazza from the small table of a coffee shop, in the sunshine. But these are not the only ways that you can enjoy Tuscany’s most fascinating places! Even this summer, in Tuscany, some art venues will host concerts and theater performances, giving us a different and special way to discover them. So, in this case, check the time of the concert, go to the ticket office (or book in advance!)… and then enjoy the location AND the show! Here are just a few suggestions: Let’s start from a museum that needs no introduction: the Bargello, in Florence. Its beautiful courtyard will host theater, dance (the Florence Dance Festival) and classical and contemporary music. It’s the Estate al Bargello (Summer at Bargello): over 70 events, from May 23 to September 22.
The Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina has a wide program of concerts throughout the summer, mainly held in the stunning Orsamichele Church, with also a few shows hosted inside the almost unknown Chiesa di Santo Stefano al Ponte, just a few steps from Ponte Vecchio. Information and the full program here. One of the most fascinating places of this list is also a place that was built to host music concerts and performances: the Roman amphitheater of Fiesole. Again this year, the Estate Fiesolana will ensure magical evenings. Information and the full program here.
For the Estate Chigiana (July 22 - August 29), classical music will resonate in some of the most fascinating places in the province of Siena: Pienza, the Abbey of St. Antimo; the cloister of the Abbey of Santa Mustiola and the Church of Sant 'Agostino in San Gimignano. Internationally renowned artists are expected.
The Chianti Festival will last for the entire month of July, reaching some of the most enchanting squares of the Chianti area: Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Gaiole in Chianti, and Radda in Chianti. Information here. The Chianti Sculpture Park will host 12 concerts of classical music, jazz, opera, tango, which will be held in the impressive amphitheater of the park at sunset Information here.
