It was Dante Alighieri who in the Divine Comedy wrote “Monteriggioni di torri si corona” (translated as “Of turrets, Monteriggioni crowns its walls), because its 10 meter-high fortified walls have as many as 14 towers, which were useful during medieval times to catch sight of enemies – particularly Florentines – approaching from far away. This festival plunges the town right back into those medieval times with a colorful festival that’s among Tuscany’s oldest. Monteriggioni di torri si corona is a must-attend event for anyone who enjoys historic reenactments, filled with street artists, costumed figures, engaging concerts and entertainment for children, all in a dream-like atmosphere.
The party begins with an evocative Medieval banquet at the Castle, where flavors and entertainment are intertwined, tracing history through ancient dishes. A carefree evening in harmony during which there will be no shortage of surprises.
There will be also the traditional Medieval market, street performers and great attention to the audience of families, with the creation of an ideal place for their entertainment and with spaces dedicated precisely to children with specific games and storytelling. It is also possible to participate in the festival by dressing up in medieval costumes.
The 2026 edition will be held from July 9 to 12.
