Salamarzana

On September 5 and 6, Corsini Park and the historic center of Fucecchio will host the 17ᵗʰ edition of Salamarzana, the medieval festival dedicated to the history of the ancient Castle.

The reenactment transports the village back to the early 14ᵗʰ century, a period when Salamarzana Castle reached the height of its development. 
Military encampments, merchants, shops, traditional crafts, hands-on workshops, musicians and costumed performers will bring the city’s historic streets and squares to life.

During the event, visitors will be able to tour some of the Castle’s main landmarks, including the Palazzo della Volta, the churches, Civic Museum, Corsini Park, ancient towers, Palazzo Pretorio and the old prisons.

Artistic direction is in the hands of director Firenza Guidi, who will bring to the stage true stories and feuds among the nobility, here reconstructed using documents preserved in the Municipal Historical Archives.

Rounding out the program is a culinary selection inspired by local traditions, with the opportunity to sample the classic Salamarzano dessert as well.

The event takes place on Saturday, September 5 from 6:00 pm to midnight then on Sunday, September 6, from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
