The music of Ennio Morricone will be featured in Gorfigliano di Minucciano on Saturday, June 21, as part of the Toscana Arcobaleno d’Estate festival. Bringing the “Alla Scoperta di Morricone” (“Discovering Morricone”) show to the stage will be the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Giacomo Loprieno, with a journey of words, evocations and solo performances that guide the viewer through the decades that made Italian and international cinema and music great.
Morricone has left an unparalleled artistic legacy, penning 100s of compositions for the silver screen and winning international awards including 2 Oscars, 3 Grammys, 4 Golden Globes and a Leone d'Oro. Hence, the inspiration behind the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra—a pride of Italy—paying tribute to the Maestro.
The journey that began among the melodies that have remained in the collective memory of generations—such as those from The Mission, The Legend of 1900, Once Upon a Time in the West, Cinema Paradiso, The Hateful Eight, Once Upon a Time in America, For a Few Dollars More, and Malèna—continues in this 3ʳᵈ edition of the show, taking on other works such as The Untouchables, Lady Caliph, Reverse Canon plus dedicating significant space for great songs written for artists such as Dulce Pontes, Amii Stewart, Joan Baez and Mina in a new symphonic version.
In this tribute, taking to the stage will be soloists, first chairs from leading Italian theaters and symphonic institutions.
