From June 12 to 14 in Marciano della Chiana, the historic bike event of La Chianina Ciclostorica returns with 3 days dedicated to historical cycling and an exploration of the Valdichiana.
The event attracts vintage bike enthusiasts from Italy and abroad, combining the passion for 2-wheelers with appreciation for the land, including landscapes, villages, rural architecture, local culture and traditional flavors.
The heart of the event will be the historical cycling event on Sunday morning, with a caravan of woolen jerseys and historic bicycles along some of the most beautiful roads in the valley.
The routes will cross the territories of Marciano della Chiana, Civitella in Val di Chiana, Monte San Savino and Lucignano, with stops for refreshments focused on typical local products.
There will be 4 routes of various lengths and difficulty, designed for cyclists with different levels of fitness—from the 42-mile (68-kilometer) long route to the 12-mile (20-kilometer) route also suitable for children and families.
Among the most striking stretches is the ascent along a dirt road to the fortified village of Gargonza.
This route passes through villages and castles, Leopoldine farmhouses, sunflower fields, reclamation works and farms, alternating between challenging climbs and views of the Valdichiana.
