Giorno di Leonardo (Leonardo Day) is the big birthday party to celebrate the anniversary of Leonardo’s birth on April 15, 1452, in Vinci.
As per tradition, the event will begin on April 27 with the tolling of the bell from the panoramic terrace of the Castello di Conti Guidi, followed by many events to follow in the village, with guided tours, educational activities, exhibitions, living paintings, street art, performances and much, much more.
There will be the historic launching of a laurel wreath that will come down from the sky directly onto the sundial of the Casa Natale (the home where Leonardo was born), the theatrical performance of “Tre ricordi di Leonardo, alle origini del Genio” (“Three Memories of Leonardo, to the Origins of Genius”) by the Primera artists, the treasure hunt “Scopri l’indizio” (“Find the Clue”) for children aged 11 to 14 years, along with dancers from the Compagnia Della Bizzarria d’Amore of Fucecchio and flag-wavers from the Contrada di Porta Fiorentina who will perform accompanied by the music of clarions.
It will be possible to build Leonardo's Bridge thanks to the Associazione Montalbano Domani where Benedetta Colombo, Emilio Cozzi and Sara Taglialagamba will be protagonists of the popular talk dedicated to “Il Primo Volo” (“The First Flight”).
The Museo Leonardiano will host an educational activity (“The Dream of Flight”) for families with children aged 5 to 7 years, along with a guided focus on Leonardo in Vinci for adults.
There will even be stalls and food throughout the village.
A whirlwind of events to enliven the village of Vinci on the occasion of the birthday of its most famous citizen.
