Christmas in Siena means a Christmas Village, events, tourist itineraries, lights, cultural events, a train and much more: "Christmas 2021: the magic is rekindled" is the title of the events programme that also includes the festival "E quindi uscimmo a riveder le stelle", that includes all of the cultural events. The initiatives will be aimed at all citizens (adults and children in the municipal area, but also in the neighbouring areas).
An important new addition will be that of the lights in the historic centre of Siena that will be lit up on December 8. There will also be those dedicated to Dante, with quotations from the Divine Comedy - "Se segui la tua stella non puoi fallire a glorioso porto", "E quindi uscimmo a riveder le stelle”,“ L’amor che move il sole e l’altre stelle”- and a tribute to Federigo Tozzi, one of the greatest writers of this century.
The Christmas tree will be prepared by the Piccoli delle Contrade and will be placed inside the entrance to the Town Hall. For little ones, there will even be a Christmas train.
The Villaggio Parco Giochi will be set up in the gardens of the Lizza with an ice skating rink, mini-roller coaster and mini-carousel, as well as amusement park games, a fun mirrors labyrinth, cinema-vision, and food and drink kiosks.
The Agt (Tourist Guide Association - Siena and Province) and the Centro Guide Siena Association will conduct guided tours of the poets' squares, with mini theatrical sketches about the life and works of Dante and Federigo Tozzi with actors from 3pm on December 11, 18 and 26, and January 8, 2022.
“E quindi uscimmo a riveder le stelle” is the events series that contains all of the cultural events for the Christmas holidays.
A series of initiatives related to welfare and youth policies are also part of the Christmas programme in Siena 2021.
The programme is curated by the Historic Center of Siena Association and the Municipality of Siena, in collaboration with the Monte dei Paschi di Siena bank and the Siena and Arezzo Chamber of Commerce with the support of the Monte dei Paschi Foundation.
