Theater of Silence in Lajatico and beautiful hike at sunset

Magical evening excursion in the enchanted hills of Lajatico through picture-postcard landscapes of barren countryside, surrounded by farms where ochre colors mingle with the cobalt color of the sky giving beautiful views, as far as Volterra and beyond. 

The pivotal site of our excursion will be the iconic Teatro del Silenzio, now a symbol of the Tuscan landscape that blends harmoniously with the surrounding rolling hills. 

We will set out through small country roads where we can observe and converse, always ready for a possible encounter with a mammal or the flight of a bird of prey. 

As the view becomes more and more scenic, we will enter a typical mixed forest of oaks and holm oaks where the agricultural civilization gives way to the loggers, the realm of deer, wild boars, jays, dormice, squirrels, buzzards and whitethroats.

We will then retrace our steps to resume the path of the rolling hills and vineyards, until we gain the high ground from which we overlook the Theatre of Silence.

The Theatre of Silence is a unique place in the world. It is a natural amphitheater that has seen performing international artists such as Laura Pausini, Roberto Bolle, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and, of course, Andrea Bocelli - the main creator of the initiative - who returns to his hometown Lajatico every year for a concert, after which the theater goes back to sleep remaining silent.
